I LOVE this stuff — in a dry climate like Colorado, you need a serious moisturizer.

I also recently gave this to a friend for her birthday (along with the Pure soap). She tried it right there in the restaurant and could not get over how it melted right on contact and smelled so great!

The Pure lotion bar is my fave! It’s the only thing that keeps my baker hands soft after all the hand washing and it’s vegan!

Peppy Body Butter

This is an amazing product

I love that it is natural, soothing, and smoothing, and it works extremely well for dry skin. The orange peppermint fragrance is fresh and invigorating. I tried it for 3 consecutive days on both my husband’s and my feet, and his foot greatly improved as did the cracks in my heels!

Herbal Organic Hair Tea
Calm Body Butter

I use this body butter on my face, hands, elbows, feet and absolutely love it!

I have very dry skin and in the fall/winter it is even worse. Regular and even expensive lotions do not work, as their main ingredient is water. Now I use this body butter on my face, hands, elbows, feet and absolutely love it! A little bit goes a long way
~Beth

Body butter is different than typical lotions.

Standard commercial lotions have added water, alcohol, and preservatives (due to the high water content) while body butter is 100% pure oils and butters—nothing else. Our special blend of butters and oils (with a dab of beeswax) ensure that the product goes on smoothly without leaving a greasy residue.

Be sure to choose "Temperature Sensitive Shipping" at checkout to avoid products melting during shipping.

Using Body Butter from Head to Toe:

Body butter is a great way to lock in moisture for your entire body. We have customers who use it every day on hair, face, and all the way to their toes! Simply scoop out a small amount of the butter, warm in your hands, and apply.

  • Use it after your shower and you just might find that you do not need to reapply throughout the day, as you would with a typical lotion.
  • Apply a pea-sized amount of body butter to ends of your hair for a super intense conditioner.
  • Body butter is a wonderful moisturizer for your face but only use a tiny dab.
  • Rub an ample amount on dry feet, cover with socks and wake up with supple moisturized toes.

Using your own essential oils in body butter:

If you love using your own essential oils, purchase the Pure Body Butter. It’s unscented, making it the perfect base for adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Just temper (instructions here) and add your favorite essential oil while whipping.

Body Butters

If the body butter you purchased contains essential oils, do not add more. We use recommended safe amounts of essential oils to our products, and adding more could cause harm to your beautiful skin and body.

If you love using your own essential oi blends, purchase the Pure Body Butter. It’s unscented, making it the perfect base for adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Just temper (instructions here) and add your favorite essential oil while whipping.

Products labeled with a temperature-sensitive notice are designed with ingredients that melt around body temperature. Especially in the summer months or in hot climates, these products can change in texture and consistency while in transit.

  • To protect your natural products in the early spring, through summer and late fall, select “Temperature Sensitive Shipping” at checkout. Your order will ship in our 100% compostable padded shipping insert.
  • If temperature-sensitive products arrive melted, we won’t be able to replace or refund them.
  • Once temperature-sensitive products arrive, keep in a cool spot away from direct sunlight.

For Body Butters, Lip Goods, and Salves:

If melting does happen, you can simply pop the product into the fridge to solidify and it will still be usable (though may not look as pretty!). In fact, we highly recommend that you put your products into the refrigerator or freezer prior to opening. This will help ensure that your products are solid, and will avoid spilling the melted product upon opening.

If your product was whipped, see our how to restore whipped body butter post.

Our soaps are packaged in organic cotton bags. You can reuse them as tea bags (please wash them first though!), or soap sacks. To use as a soap sack, place the small ends of soap bars into the sack until you have a small stash. Then, wash with the soap sack as a washcloth. They also make great garden soap sacks (just hang from the spigot).

Our Mouthwash Crystals are packaged in kraft eco pouches, lined with PLA (Polylactic Acid), a bioplastic material made from renewable resources such as corn and sugar with an ALOX (Aluminium Oxide) Coating. ALOX is compostable and helps keep the crystals dry.

Our Tooth Suds and other boxes are made from 100% recycled content, are 100% recyclable and compostable.

Conditioner bars, facial powders, and travel bars are packaged in glassine bags. Glassine is a smooth and glossy paper that’s made air, water, and grease resistant through a process called supercalendering.  They are not waxed or chemically-finished during manufacturing and are fully recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable.

Our hair tea is packaged in biodegradable cello bags made from wood cellulose fibers sourced with sustainable forestry principles, certified biodegradable, compostable, and made carbon zero. Each bag meets ASTM D6400, EN13432 standards for CA and other states.

Our labels are printed on recycled label stock.

Herbal salves are packaged in a reusable and recyclable metal tins.

We ship with sustainable materials too!

  • Smaller orders are shipped in sustainable paper padded envelopes and boxes (made from recycled materials, recyclable & naturally biodegradable). If more suitable, your package might arrive in one of our reusable, recycled, and recyclable plastic pouches too.
  • Larger orders ship in USPS flat rate packages that meet Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) or Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification standards. And, they are fully recyclable (including the padded shipping mailers which are made from #4 recyclable plastic).

We jar our body butter when it’s whipped, silky, and smooth. But, if your jar was left in the car on a hot day, it could have melted and developed a grainy texture. The good news is that it’s perfectly safe to use and won’t affect the performance of the body butter.

The graininess (or butter bumps) are a result of different fatty acids cooling down at different temperatures. If you want to restore the wonderful whipped texture you can re-whip your body butter. This post explains how to restore your body butter to its silky smooth whipped state.
