Alō Calm Essential Oil Blend is based on lavender essential oil (Botanical Name: Lavandula officinalis). Originating from the Latin lavare, meaning “to wash”, lavender has historically been used in baths to help purify the body and spirit. Many people have a fond association with lavender for its fragrance which creates a stimulating and calming experience when used in soaps, shampoos, and body products. Try pairing this bar with the full Calm line, including Body Butter, Lip Goods, and Shower Steamers for a natural calm.
All natural colorants are infused into the base oils for each batch, creating a beautiful bar free from synthetic cosmetic colorants. This lavender bar features madder root and activated charcoal. Activated charcoal aides in providing a deep cleanse and gives your skin a natural glow while helping to absorb excess oils.
Aloe Vera is used in every Alō Signature bar. It provides a soothing feel to each and every bar of handmade soap. It’s a wonderful addition to soothe and hydrate sensitive and irritated skins.
Olive Oil creates a very gentle soap with a mild lather. Coconut Oil is added to help boost this bars lather as well as provide superior cleansing. Shea Butter and Sweet Almond Oil add soothing nourishment and hardiness to the soaps profile.
Alō products are handmade using all natural ingredients. Please allow for color and design differences in each batch.
Soap ages, like a fine wine, but we recommend that you use your soap within one year of purchase. When a bar of our soap ages:
The scent and color changes on our sample bars will be more noticable and occur sooner than the full sized bars. This is due to an increased percentage of the surface area being exposed to air.
My favorite bar of soap is the first bar I ever made. My daughters and I spent months researching and collecting tools and materials with my husband. Our first soap then took us a full day to make. I’ll cherish those memories for the rest of my life. I still have a bar from that first batch and I use is once a year on my daughters birthday.Kandra, Owner and Soap Maker, Alō Goods

When used in the shower, a bar of soap will typically last between 3-5 weeks. This assumes that the bar is exposed to water longer than at the sink, and then multiple people are using the same bar to wash head to toe.
Compared to commercial “soaps”, natural soaps are normally softer as they retain their natural glycerin (commercial soap production removes the glycerine to sell as a separate product). Our soaps are also free from artificial hardening chemicals, synthetic waxes or free alkali.
No, there is no lye in our soap. However, all true soap is made through the saponification of oils with lye—either sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. Once saponified none of the lye remains, and the oils are turned into soap. You can read more how soap is made, cured, and cared for in these articles:
