It’s a running joke around here that we all wish our moms would wash out mouth out with this soap. It’s an all natural soap with a pleasantly light taste of citrus and mint. Without the added glycerine found in commercial toothpaste, tooth suds allows your body to work as nature intended. Your saliva will be able to remineralize your teeth.
Calcium, phosphate, and fluoride found in saliva are required for effective remineralization and maintenance of your tooth enamel. Saliva is rich in calcium and phosphate ions, and if your teeth are free from added glycerine, saliva acts as a natural buffer to neutralize acid and allow demineralized tooth tissues to be remineralized.
Tooth Suds is made with olive oil, aloe vera, and essential oils. That’s it, nothing else.
Did you know that most commercial toothpaste is made with a glycerine base that leaves an invisible film on your teeth? This film preventing the natural minerals from your saliva from soaking back into your teeth, and covers plaque. This prevents your teeth from remineralizing and makes is darn hard to brush off the plaque. Tooth suds allows your teeth the opportunity to remineralize while killing bacteria and allowing you to brush away plaque.
Traditional toothpaste requires multiple rinses to wash it all the way off which is also why you have that taste in your mouth after brushing with traditional toothpaste. Tooth Suds rinse off easily (2 rinses for Tooth Suds vs. 27+ to rinse all of the glycerin in traditional toothpaste), leaves your mouth clean and fresh, and allow your body to do its natural work at keeping your teeth healthy.
Soap ages, like a fine wine, but we recommend that you use your soap within one year of purchase. When a bar of our soap ages:
The scent and color changes on our sample bars will be more noticable and occur sooner than the full sized bars. This is due to an increased percentage of the surface area being exposed to air.
My favorite bar of soap is the first bar I ever made. My daughters and I spent months researching and collecting tools and materials with my husband. Our first soap then took us a full day to make. I’ll cherish those memories for the rest of my life. I still have a bar from that first batch and I use is once a year on my daughters birthday.Kandra, Owner and Soap Maker, Alō Goods
Short Answer: It depends on how often it’s used, and if it’s kept dry between uses.
When used at the sink for handwashing, a bar of our handmade soap will last 4-6 weeks or more. This assumes that the bar will
When used in the shower, a bar of soap will typically last between 3-5 weeks. This assumes that the bar is exposed to water longer than at the sink, and then multiple people are using the same bar to wash head to toe.
Compared to commercial “soaps”, natural soaps are normally softer as they retain their natural glycerin (commercial soap production removes the glycerine to sell as a separate product). Our soaps are also free from artificial hardening chemicals, synthetic waxes or free alkali.
No, there is no lye in our soap. However, all true soap is made through the saponification of oils with lye—either sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. Once saponified none of the lye remains, and the oils are turned into soap. You can read more how soap is made, cured, and cared for in these articles:
